         SUBJECT: HANDLING OF CONTAMINATED HUMAN REMAINS
         
         OBSERVATION:   JCS has not identified procedures and specific
         responsibilities to field units for handling deceased human remains
         during conflicts when chemical, biological or nuclear contamination
         exists. There are no validated process to ensure complete
         decontamination of remains.
         
         ACTION:   CENTCOM/J4 has obtained approval for temporary burial of
         contaminated remains, if required.    Need JCS procedural guidance on
         decontamination actions; to include collection efforts, processing,
         transportation and disposition of remains.
