File: aabfg_19.txtwaiver in open storage areas. Weapons siting at the FOL will be accomplished this week. Revised site plans should be available for CENTAF/SEW review the following week (10-14 Dec). C. (U) Flying Safety. (1) The PAPI visual approach system is operational for A-10 aircraft on runway 34R. Installation of a PAR on runway 34L will require flight check of the PAPI on that runway. (2) The Army's 15th FII aircraft, OV-1D Mohawk and C-12, have relocated to the left side of runway 34R. Their aircraft are parked as close as 150 feet from the runway. This creates a very non-standard environment for runway 34R. Currently we limit use of runway 34R to our aircraft and the 15 MI's aircraft. Larger aircraft will use this runway only if the left runway is not available. Additionally, serious emergencies that will likely result in directional control problems on touchdown will be sent to the left runway. (3) Although TAC selected three of our pilots for the six-week flying safety officer course in January, we will not be able to release any of them at this time. This leaves us with one squadron and one wing flying safety officer position filled by pilots who have not had the formal school. We have asked for an additional school trained wing flying safety officer and a wing flying safety NCO to support future beddown. This should relieve some of the limitations caused by not sending our people to the school now. 4. (U) COMSEC/OPSEC A. (U) PROBLEM: Classification of Unit-Location Association. B. DISCUSSION: Association of USAF deployed units with their physical location is classified SECRET even though any visitor to an installation can readily discern what units are there through a wide variety of indicators. This over-classification is causing significant problems in transportation, where cargo continues to get lost because we cannot put the unit and physical location on the address placard, and in contracting and finance, where we cannot correctly fill out purchase delivery and payment documents without making them classified. C. (U) PROPOSED SOLUTION: Declassify the association of assigned units with this location. PART V. COMMANDERS ASSESSMENT: Required assets are in place and we are prepared to execute our mission. Personnel are currently trained and ready. Additional weapons training capability to maintain pilot proficiency continues as our most urgent requirement. Projects to enhance combat capability, sustainability and survivability continue. Morale remains good--Quality of life improvements continue.
