contents] out here, and it relieved us of hours of work that
could have been dedicated to taking care of patients. That
is just one small example of how they supported us in
anything that we needed. I liked that autonomy; I liked the
fact that we established relationships. It was working
really well for us.
Now, once the AECE got established, they often took those
kinds of things over, and it was necessary for them to do
that. They could do those things for their own shop, but it
was disempowering to this element and other elements out
here because, all of a sudden, we were excluded from the
loop for those sorts of things. Having very capable people
here, it was a frustration to them. The supply issue was a
sore subject because our names were taken off accounts at
Tent City, and there was one supply person at the AECE who
was very unreliable. The person got up here and then went
to Riyadh for a week, and we didn't see her.
We couldn't get any of our supplies. As a consequence, we
could not get new uniforms. We were promised a microwave, a
VCR, and a TV from the air evac control system. We never
got those things. We were promised temper tents; we never
got those. I took some of the supply issues to Colonel
Brown, who is the AECE OIC, and asked that our names be put
on the account; tried to procure these things for this MASF
and made him aware of the Problems with the supply system.
Unfortunately, to this day as we leave, we still have not
gotten the things that were promised us. I have people up
here in threadbare uniforms. I wanted to work those things
directly with Riyadh; I was told not to. These are the
sorts of things that we could have taken care of, and it
[has been] very frustrating to me and quite a disappointment
