b. Medical surveillance guidelines for individual chemical hazards may be
obtained through the Medical Information Module of the OHMIS, in NIOSH
Publication No. 81-123 or DOD 6055.5-M. Also see USAEHA TG No. 154 to develop
the physical assessment protocol.
c. Medical surveillance for the HDI present in CARC follows:
(1) Preplacement or baseline.
(a) Medical and occupational history with attention to
previous exposure to HDI, allergies, respiratory disease, and smoking.
(b) A physical exam with attention to the respiratory system.
(c) Clinical laboratory tests. Specifically--
- Chest x-ray, 14 x 17 inches, posterior-anterior
- Pulmonary function tests to include FEVT. forced vital
capacity (FVC). and FEVI/FVC ratio (see TB MED 509).
(2) Periodic.
(a) Annually.
(b) Same as preplacement ercept no chest x-ray.
d. Those workers required to wear respirators will be medically evaluated
to determine if they are physically able to perform their work while wearing
this equipment. (See TB MED 502 and TB MED 509.)
