     . GENERAL. EPW should tae  treated humanely and IAW with the Geneva
     Convention at all times. History has shown that humane treatment of EPW
     ,,.II I@Pgion the enemy's resolve to fight. Additionally, humane treatment
     )i EPW will allow them to be guarded with -Fewer personnel.

        PROCEDURES.


        a. At EPW collecting points established by 1AD Military Police, the
     Responsible officer will notify the co-located FSB/MSB medical company
     .ommander of the location and numbers of EPW collected.

        b. Situation and resources permitting, the medical company commander
     )ill provide medics and supplies to provide emergency -First aid at EPW
     ::)Ilection points.

        C. After providing emergency first aid, medics will screen all EPW if
     )ossible. All EPW suspected of having a communicable disease will be
     solated -For examination by a medical officer.

        d. EPW medical personnel, after proper identification, will be
     .Permitted to treat their own personnel under supervision.

        e. EPW will be classified as walking wounded or non-walking wounded.
     -klking
           wounded EPW will be evacuated through Military Police EPW channels
     nd non-walking wounded will be evacuated through medical channels. EPW
     :c)ctors will be allowed to escort the seriously wounded EPW if the
     .,tuation permits, and approved by the EPW collection point MP OIC.

        f. Wounded EPW may be interogated by Military Intelligence personnel
     .@ly after approval of senior medical personnel an site.

        g. An armed escort is required for EPW evacuated through medical
     "nannels.

        1. Captured medical supplies will be examined by the medical company
     :zmmander to determine their intelligence value IAW FM 30-16.

        j. Medical company commanders will provide EPW statistics to the
     --vis4,an Medical Operations Center an the Daily Medical Status Report.
