        BDE TOC at 0415 hours to pick up the correct fill from Division.
        A guidons call went out to the brigade sub-units to have LNOF or
        CESOs at the BDE TOC at 0700 hours to pick up the correct fi 1.
        The recommended changeover time on the brigade is 291000JAN91.
        We will put the correct fill on the Division net as soon as the
        BSO returns.


        * 0535 - The BSO returns. We have the correct fill on the
        Division net.

        * 0600 - Demon 6 requests to have his company relieved of LOG
        BASE ALPHA defense mission for 24 hours beginning NLT
        300800JAN91. Request is approved by Devil 6. Unit is notified.

        * 1110 - MAJ Lawson, 2nd BDE S-3, called. COL Marino, MAJ
        Lawson, the battalion commander on Ist Brigade's right, and the
        battalion commander on 2nd BDE's left will be here at 1515 hours.

        * 1130 - The ALO reports that last night the U.S. Space Command
        observed the largest non-nuclear explosion ever. It is believed
        to be the Republican Guards logistics and ammunition dump.

          Issues at  shift changeover:

                     1.  LNOs live at the BDE TOC. They report and answer
                         to the Brigade XO.

        30 JANUARY 1991

          0155 - Three Iraqi tanks crossed the border vicinity PT
        573165. Special Forces soldiers engaged them with artillery and
        tanks. The tanks withdrew to the north.

        * 0200 - BBC reports that Iraq has attacked acrossed the Saudi
        Arabian/Kuwaiti border in four areas, including two against the
        town of Kliafji.

          0300 - Due to the enemy contact, VII Corps has ordered that we
        maintain Day 9 frequencies and call signs. When it was verified
        that the enemy was moving back north, normal frequencies and call
        signs were initiated at 0310 hours.
