               1.   'f@)e -following is i chronology of the intelligence
               gathering operations performed by the 312th Military
               Intelligence Bit-LalioTi dLtrinLi- Operition Desert Shield and
               Operation I),esprt Stoi-rfl.   Information is provided by
               operational element.

               2.   On 12 Jan c)l, LRED, three Jam teams equipped wi-ti-i
               Aiq/PR -ils, and ti-iree grotii-id si-ti-veillance radar teams
               eq@tipped with AN/PPS--5s were deployed to 'the tri-bordcr
               area iyid attached tine 5th Special Forces Group Operational
               Detachment C-)Ipfi.-t with the mission of providing early
               warning to coalition forces of Iraqi militxry E@ctivities,.
               145 hostilities commenced, on the morning of 17 Jan 91, the
               soldiers located with tine Bravo LRS team came tender Iraqi
               artillery fire, -the first enemy fire the division
               received.     'Fhe -fire inflicted no casualties, and ti-iei@e

               conducted three defensive repositioning moves, each of

               border. From 17 ixn 91 Ltntil. the beginning of the defense
               'north of the             Road, the biselines were only moved
               forward once, beat 'Line di.stanof, between them and suspected
               enemy positions was still too great for effective
               collection.
