TAB H Lessons Learned To 73d Med Det DS/DS AAR

       1. Title: Medical Field Chests
Observation: Prior to deployment, medical supplies located
in field chests were not well organized for long term mission.
Discussion: Recent civic actions to Bolivia and Paraguay
made use of only a few medical chests due to space/weiqht
restrictions. These had not been reconfigured for a long term
deployment, as only short term deployments were occuring.
Lesson learned: Medical field chests need to be kept ready
for both long and short term missions.
Recommendation: obtain 2 more field chests and stock them
for a short term mission. Keep the other medical field chests
stocked for long term missions. Resupply each set as needed from
       a separate supply stock.

       2. Title: Use of JA Teams in Wartime
Observation: JA Teams should be kept together as a unit
       during a deployments
Discussion: manpower constraints resulted in the initial
splitting up of the 73d Med Det for use at different sites.
Because JA Teams are so small, each unit member has multiple,
specific functions. The unit trains together in peace and needs
to be together on deployments to-maintain unit integrity and
chain of command. Splitting up the unit disrupts the unit.
Lesson learned: Keep JA Teams together as a team when
       deployed.
Recommendation: Use a JA Team to cover a field site and
maintain unit integrity. This lesson was applied successfully
when the 73d Med Det was assigned to AA Vidalia as a unit.
