          APPENDIX 3 TO ANNEX G (PUBLIC AFFAIRS) TO lgt COSCOM OPORDER
          DESERT STORM - POLICY AND PROCEDURE FOR RELEASE OF MILITARY
          PHOTOS/VIDEO (U)



          1. (U) During hostilities. US/Allied military
          units/personnel will obtain photos/,video that will be of
          interest to news media organizations.

          2. (U) Aircraft gun cameras. recon, BDA photog/vide.o will
          be transported to OASD-PA by the most expeditious means
          possible. Upon security review/clearance, OASD-PA will
          release significant photog/video products not otherwise
          available to the media. No advance promises of availability
          of materials will be made. OASD-PA will provide to

          USCINCCENT-PA copies of all released material for release in
          theater.

          3. (U) Official photo/video release by military ground
          combat documentary teams will follow procedures outlined on
          current DOD directives.

          4. (U) Unofficial photog/video taken by U.S. military
          personnel will be treated the same as official material once
          their existence is known (unless public release is not
          intended)

          5. (U) Unofficial photos/video provided to the media
          through unofficial sources, when discovered, will promptly be
          reviewed prior to publication/broadcagt.

              a. (U) If classified photos/video are found.
          USCINCCENT-PA request media voluntarily surrender only those
          portions deemed to be classified.

              b. (U) If media refuses, OASD-PA will contact bureau
          chief/editor in CONUS to request material not to be
          published/broadcast.
