                               RETROGRADE AND REDEPLOYMENT

With the tremendous build up of forces in Saudi Arabia

spanning over five months, it was no surprise that redeployment

back to Ft. Stewart would not be as quick as the defeat of Iraq.

Safety was the highest priority in the redeployment period, and the

92nd returned from Iraq with everyone alive and in good spirits.

Once the battalion received the retrograde order from 20th Engineer

Brigade, the 92nd began packing and cleaning equipment. Bravo

Company constructed a vehicle wash rack for vehicle cleaning as the

inspection and the loading of ships, and 14 to be temporarily

attached to lst COSCOM in support of the Port Support Activity

(PSA). The 92nd's equipment was staged from 9 - 18 April. The

equipment was later loaded on 10 ships, and reached the United

States at various ports from 10 May to 20 June.(See Annex D)

On 13 April 1991, the 92nd, less its rear detachment, moved

into Khobar Towers in the city of Al Rhobar. This was the corps

Personnel Marshalling Area (PMA). At the PMA, soldiers performed
