V113:. CHEMICAL ORDANANCE.
GENERAL. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DESTROY CHEKICAL MUNITIONS WITHOUT
GUIDANCE OR AUTHORIZATION. REPORT ALL KNOWN OR SUSPECTED CHEMICAL
MUNITIONS TO HIGHER HEADQUARTERS IMMEDIATELY. Iraq's chemical
arsenal is composed of Soviet chemical munitions and Iraqi
modifications to Soviet block chemical munitions. All Iraqi
chemical projectiles and rockets, as a general rule, will have
filler plugs either on the side, for non persistent agents, or on
the base for persistent agents. A positive identification of
the munition is critical in all cases. Intelligence has reported
that Iraq has developed a chemical round for the RPG-7 grenade for
use against armor vehicles.
At this time there are no known markings/color scheme on
Iraqi chemical and biological munitions. However, reports indicate
that Iraqi forces mark contaminated areas and storage areas
containing chemical munitions with a yellow flag or placard. The
flag/placard says "contaminated area" in arabic. These are
unconfirmed reports. Therefore, if munitions do not match the
markings outlined in section VII, assume muntions are chemical.
