B~ CF Bm~ERS
M~en Myatt sent the ccrrrnander of the King AbDul Azlz Brigade a
personal note thanking him for his units role in the recovery of
Marines trapped in Khafji. Colonel Turki-Al-Firmi, seated on a
oriental rug, in tis desert tent surrounded by his officers very
carefully read the :ljtter. He called for silence and told his
officers what he had read. Then he said, that which for me, made
six months of hardwork worthwhile.
"Colonel Admire's Marines are our brothers. We are all
soldiers in a ~ust cause. We had an obligation to fight
to rescue those Marines in Khafji because I know that if the
positions were reversed there is no question that they would
have done the same."
PC~TRY IN PRAISE CF ~INES
Poems were produced and readings were held for the officers of
King AbDul Aziz Brigade praising the units courage in the Battle
of Khafji. Hard for me to follow in Arabic, urmistakable though,
were the mention of ~erican Marines. To sit in a desert tent on
a oriental rug around a smoky hearth and hear U. S. Marines
praised in Arabic poetry filled me with pride.
