incoming enemy rocket fire. Under Sgt Gregory's leadership there
was no hesitation to return to the dangers that had flushed them
out. The mission had to be accomplished.
4. On the humorous side. "A'note carried by an EPW." To
maintain the momentum of the armor attack many units were
bypassed. On G-2 while infantry was moving up to clear the
bypassed enemy trench lines and bunkers. Elements of 2/7, part of
TF Grizzly came upon a group of approximately 7e-se EPWs' walking
towards their position. When challenged to halt they all halted
with exception of one EPW who was waving a note in his hand
insisting that someone read it. Marines from 2/7 cautiously moved
forward, seized the note that the EPW was waving and it read *To
whom it may concern:
We turned ourseives into S/li. We were searched and have no
weapons. We have 1 Lieutenant,.l Sergeant, and 2 Corporals in our
group. We were given an NRE and water from S/il, aren't they a
bunch of great guys, especially SSgt x__ *~
