- Tension was running high along the Kuwait border in our
asserttiy area just prior to crossing the first of two obstacle
belts. The Task. Force's Battalions were deployed along the front
with an artillery battalion-in-direct support. In the wee hours
of the morning a battalion watch-officer, called the regiments
watch officer saying that *thelr:~S~uslng reliable t-hermal night
sights had positively identified six towed howitzers and was
requesting information on any-friendly units which may be *
operating to their front, before *e.~gaglng with supporting arms.
The ~egimental Watch officer notified division of the "positively'1
identified howitzers. Shortly after division was notified by the
~egiment, the battalion watch-officer called back and meekly
informed his higher headquarters that the howitzers had undergone
a metan~rphosis into positively-identified camels.
