Upon receiving the Ago aheadS11 Team Mech and.Team j,ank~m0ved
+or~~rd to breach ,the obstacle.        Thrpugh the smogt~o,~~nks
appeared less than 200 cneters north 0+. P~ase ,L,ine~t1ar~a~et.    Both,
were~immediately~engaged and ,destroyed,.by (nain.gun~ank +ire.
      While Team Mech proceeded to open three lanesq 5b cal +ire
+rom.~~V's, tanks1 and C~~T Teams. rained the gr9und1 opposite the
obstacle providing. cover +or the.Cornba.t En~ineers.,, -.Qjthe.+our.
line charges Team ~ech `+ired none exploded.as advertised.         One
line charge was shot +rom a MK154 and the tow rope broke.          The
other three `~.ine charges.were +i~ed bya:t~ree,shot.$ll had,to be
manually primed.          Despite `the sl~~ht delay three lanes ~ere
rapidly opened by Team Mech.          Team Tank +ired two line charges
+rom a MKl~4 al~o.          Neither line charge exploded ,as adyertised,
but a+ter manue          priming both b)ew ~ucces,s+ully. T~o additionel
lanes were thu=~ opened by Tearr. ~ank. Sergeant Yance Dorn 0+ ~D4
plowed through both lanes to ensure no mines were present.
      The Battalion pressed +orward at 1600.         ~ large quarry lay in
the eastern portion 0+ our zone.          It is important to note that
every known quarry and enemy position in 1/7's zone 0+ action waE
hammered with prepianned +ire support to weaken and destroy all
possible threat~.          The ~attalior bypassed the a~tarry and
occasi oral mi ne~ to the northwest while reconni ng by + ire. No
enemy was sight~d nor +ire rece:~ved.         North 0+ the 9Ltarry C~~T~ 1
and 2 engaged several .BTR'-50's ~ith TOWS.        No enemy +ires were
received.   With visibility still marginal, the Battalion continued
its attack toward kuwait City with the mi ssi on 0+ cutting o++
Kuwait international ~irport         (MEF Obj C) +rom the west.
      ~t i7~c) as the Battalion approached its LO~, Team'Tank
destroyed one T-59 l~c)mm arti.llery piece still oriented towards
eastern beaches.         Numerous bunkers were sighted.   *Team Mech
dismounted and cleared the Battalion's +ront up to the LO~.         70C)
meters south 0+ Kuwait City the Battalion occupied a blocking
position 4c)Q~) meters west 0+ Kuwait International ~irport.
Security was established and de+ensive positions were dug as the
~attalion set ready in the smog and total darkness.
      ~t 2~c)C a patrol +r'om Team Mech lead by Sergeant Charles
Eckho++ pressed through the darkness and into the city to scout
the area +or enemy activity.          Si' hours later the patrol
returned having made no enemy contact in its movement into the
city.   Thermal optics +rom all capable vehicles v~'ere active all
night.  Numerous sightings 0+ civilian vehicles in and around the
city were observed but no enemy contact was made.
