            AWACS' system was down for tanker operations. With the kickoff nf
            D-Day, MACS-2 assumed responsibility for controlling the
            CAP located in the southern KTO in support of the OAS missi.c,@if,.

                 As all Marine Corps aircraft became dedicated to interdiction
            and OAS after D-Day, MACS-2's focus shifted to the KTO airspace
            management operations, From the period of 17 January 1991 to 28
            February 1991, MACS-2 performed over 10,840 RIO's providing these
            missions enrotite to and return from the KTO flight following for
            traffic deconfliction and real time threat updates on the eri(@n)y
            surface to air threat operating within the KTO and specifically in
            their target area. This real,time threat information allowed
            these OAS aircrew toleff-ectively plan their run in headings to the
            target area and to safely egress after expending their ordnance.

                 The MACS-2 EW/C detachment which dey;loyed to the Khanjar
            Gravel Plain on 15 February was the final detachment deployed in
            support of the main TAOC. The EW/C was tasked with the primary
            mission of providing air cover for the GCE utilizing four HAWK
            firing platoons and forty-five STINGER teams. The system was
            mobile loaded to enable it to displace quickly in trace of the GCE
            through the breach in Iraqi defensive fortifications. On the
            morning of 27 February the EW/C departed Khanjar in trace of lst
            and 2d MARDIV elements and proceeded through the breach. At 1800
            on 28 Februar.y 1991 the EW/C became operational at Ahmed Al JabeT
            Airfield, Kuwait. Operations continued at Al Jaber until 0001 on
            03 March with retrograde ordered at 0900 04 March 1991.
