- 1800, 3/9 moved into agricultural area (vic CT 8533) and discovered an
extensive bunker complex. 3/9 received sporadic enemy automatic
weapons fire. That, coupled with near zero visibility hampered
movement north.
- 1830, enroute to OT 8733, 1/1 engaged two separate civilian vehicles,
after receiving fire from them. TF Command Elements were involved in
the same civilian vehicle firefight.
2115, TF Command Elements crossed PL Margaret and established CP (vic
857321).
2130, D 1/1 engaged an APC near the KIA, killing it and several Iraqi
soldiers. TF CP received automatic weapons fire during this
engagement.
2130, TF CEB detachment was also involved in an APC engagement (vic OT
8730). CEB destroyed 1 APC, I jeep and 1 cargo truck. During this
engagement, CEB suffered 1 KIP, of A Co, 7th Engineer
Support Battalion.
2200, TF LOC established at OT 825237. The RAS was quickly established
to care for the wounded.
2300, 3/9 breached KIA perimeter fence and occupied a battle position
(vic 8738).
2300, All TF movement was halted by direction of Division.
TASK FORCE SHEPHERD
- 0600, 'D" Co to Ripper.
- 0750, 'C" Co destroys 10 Type 63 APC at 886094. "A' Co ties in with
"C" Co to screen Div East flank along 90 grid (N-S). Captures 6 APC's,
Sth Bn (100 men), tank main supply point, 3 T-62's, 2 APC's, 1 Btr and
I truck.
- 1500, TF conducts a flank screen along the 90 N-S gridline, destroys 6
tanks, 11 APC's, 5 trucks.
- TF moves north, skirting Kuwait International Airport to the east.
- 1700, TF enters suburbs of Kuwait City, Co A reconned by fire the
military barracks at TN 125375. TF continued to move in Kuwait City
132370.
- 1730, TF made contact with Kuwaiti Resistance at TN 130380.
- 1830, TF consolidates along PL Green, the 41 E-W grid line. The TF
COC at TN 117403.
- 2230, TF is ordered to take Kuwait International Airport.
TASK FORCE TARO
- Ordered to secure MEF OBJ C, eventually cleared and secured by LAI.
- 0733, Pride directs TF XRay to chop to TF Taro.
1005, Received message stating G-3 intended to move TF Taro by truck to
Kuwait International Airport to secure MEF Obj C (Airport).
1125, 1/3 tasked to secure MSR between obstacle belts with HMG teams.
1200, 1/12 displaces north toward Kuwait Int'l Airport.
1600, TF Taro 'A' Cmd and 2/3 (-) displaces north toward Kuwait int'l
Airport.
1720, 1/12 Firecap vic OT 768260 (C and F Batteries).
1730, TF Taro 'A' Cmd and 2/3 cross second obstacle belt.
1930, TF Taro 'A' Cmd and 2/3 (-) take approximately 220 EPW vic Burqan
