'!D. ADart from the nhysical and biological characteristics of the
agent, there are numerous other factors Pertaining to the target
Population which influence the effects of the exnosurp to
microorganisms artificially disseminated in an aerosol. Specific
resistance is among the most @mnnrtant of these factors. For
examnle, Yellow Fever virus would be a not:entially effective agent
for use against the civilian nor)tilation of European and North
American countries but nrohably would not be as effective in those
countries where intensive immunization campaigns against this disease
have 'neen conducted.
r.. Nonsnerific resistance also mav influence the individually
resnonse to such an artificial infection. This resistance will
op-tadnly be diminished in the case of combined iniiirv, narticularly
injury following a nuclear explosion, (e.g. radiation, etc.). r)ther
factors which wil.l. affect nonspecific resistance are the use of
antibiotics -hat alter the colonisation resistance, drugs that

interfere with the immune mechanisms, malnutrition, anti fatigue.
d. The wide individual variation in the state of sr3ecific or
nonsneci'lic -esis@;tnr-e obviously adds to the iinr)rf-rljc-tability of the
outcome of an attack. This situation might be altered by the
dissemination of infectious agent.@ 4n concentrations which would
exceed (bv several orders of magnitude) those encountered in a
naturally occurring airnorne eynoqv@rp,

attack, For examiole, an aggressor mi-ght combine a virus which
