SUBJECT: WATER DISTRIBUTION JUSTIFICATION
DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
HEADQUARTERS UNITED STATES CENTRAL COMMAND AIR FORCES (USCENTAF)
OPERATION DESERT STORM, APO NEW YORK, 09852
FROM: DE 28 January 1991
Subj: Additional Justification for Aim 91-004C (AF 732)
Water Distribution
TO: USCENTCOM/J4-7E
1. Request you reconsider purchasing water well pumps for the Al
Kharj AB non-potable water well. This source is critical for
maintenance for clay roads and for an emergency source for fire
fighting. The J&P pumps are in place and usable. Another source is
not known. The next nearest source for water is 15 to 20 miles away
from our 5500 person camp. Driving that far for water would increase
our trucking requirements and degrade our firefighting capability.
2. J&P is demobilizing so timely negotiation on this matter is very
important. Thank you for your consideration. Our POC is [(b)(2)].
KARSTEN H. ROTHENBERG, Colonel, USAF
HQ USCENTAF FWD/DE
