         SUBJECT: HARDENING 
          
         OBSERVATION:  More is being done to protect personnel, critical 
         equipment, and aircraft. 
          
         ACTION:  Sandbars and shovels were sent to six of our most 
         forward locations.  An additional 571,000 sandbags are on 
         order.  Aircraft revetment kits are coming via sealift (ETA 23 Oct). 
         Engineering has worked with air base operability and each 
         individual beddown site to develop a revetment distribution 
         plan.  Berming of munitions and POL is also in progress.
