SUBJECT: Chemical Protective Undergarment and Mask for Firefighters 
 
OBSERVATION: Firefighters are still limited to performing surround 
and drown tactics from inside their vehicles in a chemical 
environment. This impairs mission support. 
 
ACTION: Need to accelerate procurement action for the new aircrew 
undergarment and a helmet/hood compatible with self contained 
breathing apparatus. TAC/LGS/DEF procured undergarments & coveralls 
arrived 16 Dec 90 in Riyadh for redistribution. The present chemical 
protective suit is too bulky to be worn in combination with the 
firefighting suit. This degrades mission support.
