File: aabff_13.txtjet flew back fine. They ops checked it here and couldn't find anything. 5 FEB: DAY 20 - CENTAF called referrencing a message sent with an extension for the 2400 hr inspection which has now been slipped to 3000 hours, and the 2000 hr strut change which now stands at 2600 hours. I am still requesting the jets and phase team assistance so we don't "just delay" fixing the problem. - Today we are fragged for 116 sorties, turning 48 out of the FOL. They want to make sure we are established with the double turns before they slip us to a possible triple turn. So far we are not making any money like this, only tasking the fewer folks we have there harder. Line 26 air aborted for Chaff/Flare Inop and line 45-46 ground aborted for fuel. - We had some problems with the pilots this morning switching to their jets "of preference". I discussed the problem with ops istating that this was okay, as long as they did it long before takeoff and made absolutely certain that everyone was aware of the changes when they happened. Otherwise, our recovery codes are all mixed up with different tails. - We received an input from our injured troop. Commander there and here called his folks back home in the states. MPC is also sending someone to his house. - We lost 5 to ground aborts, 2 were sympathies, and 1 air abort. FEB 6: DAY 21 - a/c 1218 ground aborted for a #5 bearing oil leak at Jubail. We called CENTAF to arrange for another engine to go there. -Today we were fragged to turn twice at the FOL. Unfortunately, the Spectroil Jr that we received from A1 Karj went down after we burned the first two 8 ships. Since we could only waiver one flight, we sent our NDI guy and machine from here to KKMC. We instructed the third 8 ship to load, drop, and RTB. . . - a/c 1257 had the wheel roll off after it had touched down. This in turn caused a back up on the active and we had three jets divert to Bateen, one of which had engine problem. Since one flight had already been waived when our NDI machine went North, we had to get the samples along with the others and drive them north to Dubai!! We also had to call CENTAF for airlift to get the engine and people to Bateen because we had no air ride capa- bility. The cause of the accident turned out to be a wrong bearing in the wheel, i.e., a nose wheel bearing had been in- "tailed in a main wheel.
