we are getting indicate that we are slaughtering them. The POW
count is susposedly already over 20,000. We are seeing the light
at the end of the tunnel and everyone is basking in it.

FEB 26: DAY 41

- We got the word this morning that I had told the troops to
anticipate. There is a strong possibility that we will get
tasked with a six ship for an FOL at Kuwait City. I'm not sure
what this will gain us as it is only about 10 flight minutes
further north than KKMC, but we are prepared to rainbow through
the AMU's and are ready for the possible tasking as early as
tomorrow morning.

- Today we reconfigured some of the Able's to Charlie's so they
could fly up further to reach the Republican guard. It sure
makes the shortage on pods easier.

- The news from the ground war is still unbelievably good.
Secretary Cheney and crew still caution against overconfidence,
but by tomorrow the Republican Guard will be surrounded and wiped
out. It's hard not to get excited over that.

- Today we had 16 weather cancels and 2 ground aborts. We also
had two air airabort, but we launched two (ops adds) and stripped
them down so they could make the turns up north. We also had an
FCF.

FEB 27 : DAY 42

- We have slowed down on the turns up North. Today we are only
fragged with one turn at KKMC, and a total of 104 lines. The
board in the MOC shows all 87's for munitions configurations. It
is an awesome sight. Today is the last day the Republican Guard
will see on this planet.

- Weather is still bad and the word is that the war would have
already been over were it not for the two days of missed targets.
Our pilots are stacked in holding patterns like commercial air-
liners over LAX or O'Hare. They practically have to phone in
reservations to get a space in the day's activities.

- Tomorrow at 1000 hrs there is a redeployment briefing!!!!

- We lost a 10th bird this afternoon, a/c 1390. The SAR chopper
also got shot down so it's anybody's guess now as to the status
of the pilot. He went down right in the middle of the fighting
north of Kuwait.

- We had 9 weather air aborts today and added two lines for the
two maintenance air aborts earlier. We also had one FCF bringing
our total to 107/104 sorties flown.
