S: You mentioned earlier that your parallel taxiways were
saturated oftentimes. What steps were taken to improve the
situation of "we need more space"?

M: We built the Hog Ramp 1 and 2, which you can see on the map
in the package [4410 Operational Support Wg history, 23
Feb-2 Mar 91, Iris No. 00881375].  We built those; however,
they were not complete until the last few days of the war.
We didn't really get a good feel for how they would have
worked it. They were flow-through ramps with revetments.
We used what we called the French pad or the Viper pad, and
the Saudi apron No. 2 for the F-16 parking. We got those
fellows off the taxiway.

Once we felt that the F-16s were a permanent part of KKMC--
we moved them down there--it just seemed the most reasonable
thing to do. At first we didn't know how long they would
