SUBJECT:  Chemical Warfare Defense (CWD) Requirements                                13 Aug 90

1.  The purpose of this staff summary sheet is to obtain CV signature on the proposed
message at Tab 1 which responds to USCENTAF/CC's message 061400Z AUG 90 (Tab 2) and states
actions we will take to rapidly respond to his requirements.

2.  The current situation in the Middle East and the threat of chemical warfare make it 
imperative that the development process be speeded up so that our forces can be better
protected against chemical agents.  Several needed items are nearing the production stage and a concerted effort could provide them to deployed forces within a matter of weeks.

3.  Equipment quantities stated in the message were derived from an estimate of the 
deployment size provided by a DO staff member.

RECOMMENDATION

4.  Sign proposed message at Tab 1.
