File: aaacf_120.txtAES, working for the Commander Airlift Forces (COMALF), was designated the Commander Tactical Aeromedical Evacuation System (TAES), and AECC Director. ARC volunteers served initially as tactical and strategic aircrews, and later, also, served as staffing for all AE operations. By the end of the operation AE personnel would come from 25 ARC units. On 15 August there were one AECC, two AELTs, and two MASFs operational. By 15 September 500 patients had been air evacuated, and one thousand patients were moved by 3 October. On 3 November ARC AE personnel were involuntarily activated by UTC. The 1611th AES (P) was activated on 8 November. The TAES initiated intratheater AE channel missions on 14 November. By 15 January 5,000 patients had been air evacuated. On 19 January, two days after the Air Campaign was executed the number of 1611th personnel exceeded 1,000. On 22 January the first EPW mission was flown and on 4 February the first battle casualty was evacuated. The first combined Saudi and U.S. AE mission was flown on 17 February, one week prior to G-Day. Coalition Forces POWs were air evacuated from Amman Jordan on 4 March. By 6 March 10,000 patients had been evacuated by the TAES. In all 19 AELTs, 12 MASFs, 99 tactical AE crews, 46 strategic AE crews, and 22 AE flight surgeons were utilized.
