Desert Shield Medical Intelligence Information
Squadron CC and Mobility NCO's
1. We have attached a copy of the medical intelligence information
applicable to personnel deploying to the Middle East. We are
constantly receiving information and would like to keep you and
your people informed.
2. Normally the mobility "A" bag has the appropriate equipment to
maintain health and safety, however, with the new information, we
would like you to check the bags you are responsible for. Items
that should be in the final assembly include:
A. Two pair of sunglasses.
B. 12 hour DEET based insect repellent - NSN
C. Permethrin - Impregnation insecticide (lasts up to 5
machine washings) - NSN 6840-01-278-133G.
3. AFP 161-20, Mid East Medical Problems, is a very informative
pocket pamphlet. We recommend you give one to each person
mobilizing. Your unit's publications monitor can order this
through the base publication distribution center.
4. We're sure many individuals have questions concerning the area.
If so, please encourage them to call Environmental Health Services
