                                       MEDICAL UPDATE      AS OF i5O6OOR AUG 90




            i. (U) ISSUE: MARK I KITS. 5000 on hand / 35000 due-in.

            2.   (U) ISSUE: BLOOD PRODUCTS. USAMMA to purchase 20 high
            tech blood storage boxes for isth Abn Corps with delivery in
            country. 82nd will deploy with 2 blood boxes .

            3. (U) ISSUE: PYRIDOSTiamrNE BROMIDE USP 30 mg, NSN
            6505-01-178-7903. Medical information update being distributed.

            4. (U) ISSUE: HOSPITALIZATION.


                 a. (9) Two 50 bed Air Transportable Hospitals (USAF)
            operational in Theater: lst Ned Grp in Dhahran S.A. and 363rd at
            Al Dahfra, U.A.E. A third ATH is expected to be operational C+B
            in Riyadh.

                 b. (9) 44th NED EDE: no hospitalization assets deployed
            yet.

                 c.        2 USN Shock Surgical Teams have been reported to
            have arrived   at Bahrain to augment the Salmaniya Hospital and
            Bahrain Defense Forces Hospital.

            S. (U) ISSUE: MEDEVAC.


                 a. (6) At this time no Army Medevac in country. 101st
            scheduled to deploy 3 ships with DRB but the ships are far down
            on the flow. 57th Air Ambulance is also scheduled to deploy
            approximately C + 12.

                 b.        EUCOM will provide 6 MEDEVAC craft to the Theater
            at C+17, and 6 more at C+25, with the primary mission of moving
            patiedts to the hospital ships. These will probably be chopped
            to 44 Ned for C&C.


            6.        ISSUE: CLASS VIII SUPPLY. Green Harbor arrives i7-18
            Aug. Not enough 32nd MEDSOM people to off load ship. Plan is to
            contract to off load. Accountability and security will be of
            concern. 44th pushing for the deployment of Corps "D" Package.

            7. (U) ISSUE: PREVENTIVE MEDICINE
