                 b. The "old" DR=ET liquid must be ztpr)lied to all exposed
skin at 4 hour intervals to be effective. The "new' DEET Creme
must be applied every 12 hours, is more resistant to sweat, and
is more effective. Flies may still land'an your-DEET protected
sttin but usually.do not bite through the skin to deposit their-
di-,ease% in you. Even though it is hot, the wearing of your DCU
uniform over yout- arms, le4s, head. and trunk will reduce the
target area for these flies. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO
14niNTAIN YOUR OWN ENCAMPMENT 14YGIENt7 AND TO REGULARLY APPLY
            DEET.

                 C. Use the Permethrin aerosol soray to spray inside your
mosquito netting, if you have any, the inside of your sleepina
covers, and your uniform. A light coat is all that is necessary
            every 4 or 5 days-

d- There are spiders, scorpions, and poisonous snake% in
the area. While not common, you should try to sleep off of the
-around and throughly examine your clothes and sleeping covers
before use. Your Command Surgeon can obtain further information
and more specifics through the Division and Corps Surgeon.

            4. The Chemical Warfare Threat:

                 a. You are being provided with dangerous, very potertt drugs
that c-an fil-lv you survive if stab.' it-oted to a nerve agent tttack.
*INCORRECT USE AND/OR USE OF THESE DRUGS AT THE WRONG TIME CAN
KILL YOU, OR AT LEAST CAUSE YOU TO BECOME COMBAT INEFFECTIVE.
Ensure that you are familiar- with the use of 14ark-I kit:s. Keep
yo,Lt@sE41f well hvtlrated. Do NOT use the tablets in the blister-
pacl,. until you are told to do so by your corntnrndet-.

ts known to be used by opposing forces
consist almost exclusively of a blister agent (MUSTARD) in a
form that adheres to your skin and a form that can be breathed,
and nerve auent in a short and 14Drin acting form. Review of the
proper use or your chemical ensemble, the use of the drugs
provided to you and your medics, and the control of your fear
and aroup panic reactions will enable you to probably survive.
Failure to do so will probably result in your death should you
            be attacked by these agents-

            13. These mpdical and chemicftl threats are no joke! Do what you
have been taught, but perhaps igri@t-ed on exercises. Review your
equipment, and be start- you have it all and know how to use it-
Your- medical support team can help you with information if you
            nerd more.
