            1- (U) SITUATION.

                a.       Enemy Forces. IZ forces are believed to have
            repositioned for defensive operations, but have enhanced their
            ability to conduct spoiling attacks. They have the potential of
            relocating astride Wadi al Batin and using it as a high speed
            avenue of approach to attack into the VII Corps sector with five
            divisions (GAD, 10AD, 12AD, 17AD, and the TAWARALMA AD).

                b.       Friendly Forces.

                    (1)       VII (US) Corps, on order, defends in vector to
            defeat Iraqi Corps-size attack north of PL,IRON.
