                   (1) The Ir@iqis have the capability to deliver chemical
-agents -rsistent/non-persistent), biological weapons and fuel
                   (pL
air explosives (FAE) throughout the battlefield. The primary
agents of choice are non-persistent GB nerve And persistent
mustard or dusty mustard. The Iraqis will concentrate chemical
-Fires on command and control, C2 nodes, and breaching elements.
14 wind and weather conditions are favorable, the Iraqis will
attempt to place persistent chemical barriers between the
breaching terms and the obstacle. It is currently not known if
or when Iraqi chemical release will be granted down to Corps
           commanders.

                   (2) Threat forces are capable of protecting themselves
and operating in -i chemical environment. They have prepared
extensive decontamin@ition sites throughout southern Iraq tnd

The most likely source of smoke will be -From oil-filled ditches
which ire set on fire. These will obscure movement behind the
ditch, interfere with friendly thermal sights and possibly
produce toxic fumes. All oil fields produce qLtintitiLs of
hydrogen sulfide. This flammable, colorless, and toxic gas will
penetrate -Friendly protective masls. The gas is fatil in large
exercise caution when entering oil fields,
particularly if the well heads have been damaged.

                   (4) Units will base tactical operations and MOPP levels
on chemicrl surveys ind agent characteristics. The -Following ire
the known Iraqi chemicrl agents and estimated persistenc:ies in
           hours:
