3. (U) KEYWORDS: SUMMARY, PHASE I.
4. (U) TITLE: SUMMARY: Phase I Final Report +or Fort Riley, Kansas
5. (U) GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
a. (U) Fort Riley executed the reception and deployment of
mobilized Reserve Component Units, as well as the deployment of
alerted tenant units and Ist Infantry Division (Mech) in an
exemplary manner. The Deputy Commander, Forces Command, the
Department of the Army Inspector General, and others cited Fort
Riley as providing the best support to mobilizing and deploying
units of all FORSCOM installations.
b. (U) Noteworthy actions and accomplishments that
contributed significantly to the success of mobilization and
deployment operations included:
(i) (U) Sending Contact Teams from Readiness Group Fort
Riley (RGFR) to alerted RC units at their homestations to
provide initial liaison assistance and to conduct informal unit
assessments.
(2) (U) Attaching each mobilized RC unit to an Active
Component "host" battalion to provide experienced staff
interface between the RC unit and Fort Riley activities for
training and support.
(3) (U) Activating the Fort Riley Family Assistance
Center (FAC) prior to deploying lst ID (M).
(4) (U) Utilizing U.S. Army Correctional Brigade
(USACB) personnel -- both cadre and prisoners -- to assist with
ployment operations.
(5) (U) Conducting a force modernization fielding of 22
systems including nearly 8000 pieces of equipment.
(5) (U) Repainting lst ID (M), mobilized RC units, and
deploying tenant units with CARC TAN paint in record time. DOL
painted more than 6800 vehicles and pieces of equipment in less
than 30 days.
(6) (U) Sequencing the flow of lst ID (M) equipment so
that a significant DISCOM slice deployed and arrived in theater
prior to the arrival of combat units.
