CG COMMENTS AT LOGEX, 9 SEP 91
Shoot for 1 Nov as a planning date to get out - we need time
to get ourselves out (UE and troop preparation).
- Wants to use I Nov - 15 Dec to get ourselves out
- We are going to deactivate theater in 90 days.
- Made point that all charts should be simple, graphic with
points in lower left corner.
- Wants to get rid of everything - unit equipment and soldiers
by 15 Dec, except amno. That goes.by 15 Feb. Wants to got rid
of entire SUPCOM by Jan 92.
- Want to pass CMD Of CEGSWA to 21 TAACOM (this concept is not
approved yet).
- Must be ready to handle exercises (3 or 4 per year) from Doha.
- Our permanent party at Doha will start out at 1500 and ramp
down to 200-500 in Jun 92.
- CEGSWA will be commanded by BG Brown from Dec - Jun. In June
it will go to a COL level command.
- We will have to eventually publish a TPFDL. It will be close
hold.
- MOS is irrelevant to mission.
- DCG is overall responsible to close out SUPCOM (includes
Daharan and 1 ASG trailers).
- On 15 NOV we will closeout KKMC except stay behind clean-up.
- By 15 NOV CEGSWA will move to Doha.
- Right now there's no plan to replace Task Force Victory II but
we must be prepared. Start 'planning for their redeployment in
late Nov - early Dec time frame.
- Wants to start gearing down green trucks.
- Safety is paramount in this operation.
- Will take trip to 21 TAACOM to coordinate C3.
- Want AF ammo to start moving now (60,000.ST). Mar-Apr date is
unacceptable.
- Worried about post, camp and station property and how to get
it out.
- Must improve how we turn trucks around. Supply guys must
hustle to download/upload trucks so we can turn them around.
3 day turnaround is 22 SUPCOM standard. It's everybody's
responsibility to keep trucks going.
- Don't want to see Jan on any redeployment charts.
- Some facilities will stay: in case we come back, we need an
SOP with an annex showing where all K-SPANS, ETC. are.
- If you live in a compound you must fix it up before you leave.
- We are working agreement to sell stuff in DRMO. (Still
pending decision.) Will take 6 ships to ship out.
- We must get K-Spans put up at Doha, including the hospital.
- Whatever comments I make during following presentation are
decisions.
- Task Force victory III will come in Jan if at all.
- Form 2 X 2 from the best stuff we have, not just 8th ID stuff.
- Each unit is only going to go home if its job is done.
- We need guys for commanders who will be driven by going home.
We can't afford to have CO Cdrls going home in Nov/Dec unless
