Th*is, of course, does not effect what I said. It is just a ~u~St~On1~j~15k GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): Why, do pur aircraft fly, do our aircraft fly over Baghdad? LTG AIlMAD (I): Why do you keepyour aircraft in our skies at the time you have other inethods to survey all the area? GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): It is purely as a safety measure to make sure that we do not have any hostile aircraft attack us. It has no offensive intention at all. It is a defensive measure only. But, of course, if we were to pull back from those skies and then we were to be attacked that is not a very. tTG AHMAD (I): We shall not start GEN SCKWARZKOPF (US): Any vehicle--once we establish this line there will be discussions between us and there may even be discussions between our troop commanders on the ground. I would like to propose some way that we can mark our vehicles and your vehicles whose intention is peaceful so that we don't have any mistakes. bTG AHMAD (I): We could mark them after we agree with flags or any method we agree GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): What kind of flags do you propose. LTG AMMAD (I): Any method we could agree on GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): I think a nice bright orange flag that can be seen a very long way is important LTG AHMAD (I): Any method GEM SCHWARZKOPF (US): Good. I think that that's important so- LTG AHMAD (I): Even if it's the same flag we came with. GEN SCRWARZKOPF (US): Yes, well because that is the flag of the Red Crescent Society sometimes that gets awkward. I think an international orange is a color that is recognized by all military people and therefore that is...... LTG AliMAD (I): We can agree about the color and size, dimensions now. GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): Are there other subjects that you would like to discuss? tTG KHALID (SA): As to all Iraqi and Saudi soldiers especially the border soldiers. They are not allowed to enter Saudi land and the same for our soldiers. LTG AHMAD (I): Well, *.;e will leave it as it was. E C ~ ~ 10
