also joined two Kuwaiti. interpreters on 3 February and sent
them forward. On 5 February, the S-1. participated in a medevac!
exercise designed to combine the casualty report functions of
the S-1 with the duties of the RAS. On 8 February liaison was
imade with 1/25 on the processing of EF@W's. On 12 February, the
S-1 attended a medical exercise sandtable discussion, whi.ch was
followed by a medeiva(@ exercise on 13 February. During the
ground war, the S-1 processed actual casualty reports from
subordinate units. TYie S-1 was also responsible for providing
personnel to Division, joining two new officers, and ensuring
the Marines of Headquarters Company received a class on tyie Law
of War. As February drew to a close, the war had ended, and
the S-1 sent out a Family Hotline Message to inform families of
Our safety and pending return.
INTELLIGENCE
'rhrOLicjhout the early part of February, the Papa Bear S-2
continued to submit Requests for Information (RFI's) to
Division G-2 to learn more details about the enemy and his
defenses. Information received from EPW or defector
interrogations predicted that many Iraqi units had the strong
potential to surrender or offer minimal resistance.
On 21 February, Papa Bear S-2 attended a Recon Team
debrief of the area surrounding TE' Papa Bear's breaching point.

On 22 February, Papa Bear S-2A traveled to lst RPV
Company's remote receiving station at Al Qarrah Airfield to
observe an RPV flight of the obstacle belts. The RPV camera
was able to observe Al Jaber Ai-rfield and Papa Bear's breaching
point along the lst obstacle belt. It could not, however, view
anything over the task force breaching point at the 2nd
obstacle belt. Oil wellhead fires from the Burqan oilfield had
created a huge black cloud that completely obscured everything
for miles around the task force's 2nd breaching point. A tape
