On the P6th of February the battalion continued its forward momentum
                                                                                                    in
the attack and moved to a position approximately 10 kilometers due south of
the city of Al-lahra. The battalion was in a reserve mission, but still
continued to collect large numbers of EPW'S. The S-2 Officer continued to
travel in the HMMWV with lstlt Al-Saeed to handle the EPW'S. On one occasion
the S-2 and the interpreter/scout advanced 200 meters outside the perimeter of
the battalions defensive perimeter and apprehended an entire Iraqi Mortar
Platoon that surrendered in mass, including one Iraqi captain. By 1800
approximately 75 EPW's had been captured, and more filtered in throughout the
                 night.
On the morning of the 27th of February .the S-2, S-3, AT(TOV) Company
Commander, and the battalion GO moved forward to lst battalion, 6th Marines
position to conduct a reconnaissance of the City of Al-Jahra. During this
reconnaissance a group of three Kuwaiti resistance fighters in a
Chevrolet Caprice drove up and informed the S-2 that the entire city was clean
of enemy personnel. This was immediately passed on to the Battalion Commander
                 of lst battalion, 6th Marines.
After the 27th of February the battalion stood by to continue the attack
into Al-Jahra, but by the 29th of February it was clear that the enemy was in
full withdrawal and an attack would not be necessary.
The S-2 section remained with the battalion as it displaced to various
ity of Al-Jahra. However, it was not until the end of
March that the 8th Tank Battalion actually left Kuwait and returned to the
.city of Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia for the embarkation back to Camp Lejeune, NC.
