(2) A positive target mark is provided as indicated
below:
(a) With a laser mark: The laser mark is on the
prebrieEed laser code, the spot is in the
expected target area . The pilot is confident
his ordnance will not inflict friendly
casualties and the ground commander does not
positively abort the mission.
(b) With at VP/HE/ILLUM mark: The aircrew has the
mark in sight. It is in the expected target
area. The pilot is confident his ordnance
will not inflict friendly casualties and the
ground commander does not positively abort the
mission.
(c) RABFAC: The beacon remains on throughout the
attack. The target is in the expected area.

f-. Authorization to drop without a clearance will be the
exception not the rule. This authorization is terminated
upon the conclusion of ground hostilities.

prior for JFACC air assets and no later than 050OZ the day
prior for I MEF (USMC) air assets.
h. The following JTAR numbering system applies:
1st field - day; i.e. 21 for event on 21 Feb 91
2d field - unit; i.e. 8T for Sth Tanks, 6M for
remaining Gth Marines units
3d field - sequence; i.e. Sth Tanks 400-49SI
