- The second go launched 24 of 24 with Mk 84's.

- The third go frag launched 24 of 24 with Mk 84's. One air
aborted for INS.

- We are cross loading pods onto spare aircraft during launches
and in between goes because we do not have enough to load one per
aircraft. We had some confusion initially until we ensured that
everyone knows that we will not do hat checks on the flightline
then, but will wait until the end of the flying day. Chances are
they won't go bad during cross loads if they originally checked
good on one jet.

- I coordinated with Ops so that I receive a copy of the flying
tapes from the previous day. These are big morale boosters,
especially after hitting targets like the ones we did today.
Maintainers love to see the fruits of their labor.

JAN 24: DAY 8

i- The first go was scheduled 24 with Mk 84's. We launched all of
them and they all returned. Line 24 air aborted for engine oil
flux. No bombs were dropped.

- Today was a relatively light flying day and they had scheduled
training missions for each squadron. On lighter flying days when
there are training missions, I have instructed the AMU's to fly
our "bad" jets that have a history of a particular repeated write
up to make sure they are truly fixed. (Especially the ones with
fuel problems) If they don't clear the training flights, then
they don't fill combat lines. It's better to find out its not
fixed now and not when the pilot is over hostile ground and
realizes he can't get back due to a maintenance problem.

- The second go all 24 took off. One came back air abort (a/c
1152) for a CADC light.

- Two jets diverted to a bare base right on the border. We
arranged transportation with CENTAF for our team. a/c 1141 had
nozzle flux problems and 1212 sympathied. Always be prepared to
send a team. Jets still divert even in war.

JAN 25: DAY 9

- We launched 24 at 0545 carrying MK 84's. We then launched 24
with CBU's and all returned with their munitions but four. There
was weather over the target area. Kuwait is really socked in.

- I got with corrosion to make little bomb or airplane cut outs
for the jets they down or bombs they drop. If they come back
from and ineffective sortie, they don't get a stencil.
