                                          COMMANDER'S NARRATIVE SUMMARY

IST BDE: Submitted: 16 Nov 90

Cdr's Comments: The Brigade Task Force is looking ahead to continued live fire
training and weapons qualification in the coming weeks. However, current
ammunition shortages, especially in 5.56 ball, will eliminate the planned
training of most of the units in the Brigade. Continued training ammunition
shortages will adversely impact on the combat readiness of the Brigade.

Cdr's Comments: Feedback from the battalions is that Safety Day was a
worthwhile investment of time. Dr. Marlowe and a team from ARI are here and
will begin interviewing a cross sample of soldiers.

Cdr's Comments: Require additional smoke grenades to mark positions for CAB
missions. Request Jumpmaster School be conducted in Saudi Arabia. Without

upon redeployment. Require all Readiness Platoon personnel and equipment,
Mortar Platoon personnel and equipment, and soldiers of all MOSs not on the
rear detachment section be sent to Saudi Arabia by I Dec 90 to bring battalion
