it was time far VII Corps to begin moving west around the
enemy flanks while Ist CRIV held forces to the north.
MOVEMENT TO Ai\.ID CONSOLIDATION OF PL c3TRDHS (2C,--28 FEB 91.)
In preparation for- lst Civls move to the west and -then
north, ;@'nd platoon (()vu@n!.]e)-) from D Battery was taken from
1-7 Cav to augment the air defense coverxge of -fF Hart@s
iEtmiliLtilition Convoys. 5ti-i Platoon, (Avenger) D Battery
moved their -ue.%ms to protect DREAR and DIVnR-ry. No other
task organization changes were made. Ist Coy was attached
to ARCEN-R as its reserve 'force. Simultaneously, VII Corps
moved through the Arid ittacked the RGFC, and the
Egyptians attacked to the north with success. ARCEI\I-f'
ordered Is-U Cav Uo follow. VII Corps and become their
reserve. 4-5 ADCI elements with the lst and 2y-ici Brigades
moved forward and were integrated within their mi-@ri units
'to provide air defense protection. [Is hey moved into
position for battle they were ordered to establish a hasty
defense along PL Stk,chs. On PL Stv,ohs Air- defense
elements stood alert and ready for ittac]4ing aircraft as
follow on elements of Ist Cav Came -forward and assisted in
EPW collection. 'rhe battalions task organization made i.b
possible for all elements of the division to have air
defense coverage as they moved through the breach and
consolidated along f:,L- Strohs.
CEASE-FIRE ( 80800C FEB L@1)
The Cease Fire became o-'-ficial at 0800 on 8 Feb 91.
Elements of 4--5 ADA continued to support the movement of
TF" i-itrt and '['F Cofer who brought supplies forwird to
accommodate Ist Cay's occupation of' a defensive sector in
Iraq. 'fhe @%ir- defense warning and weapons control status
changed to vilnite/hold and 4-5 ADA decreased the readiness
of its deployed systems. Early Warning of tircraft @Tid
missile attack continued to be provided via AM radio frarfi
'the KK@IC CRC. Arei coverage of lst Cav elements ind air
defense for command and control centers continued 24 hours
a d@1Y. IP-5 ADA continued to prepir,.- for
operations And maintained seci-tr,i.,Ly ,.--or ground forces
against possible Iraqi hostile acts.
