Mission - The complexity and unfamiliar mission of
Chem/Bio detection teams posed iany questions. The initial
information provided to the-detachment was vague, leaving
much of the implementation of the teams to tfie leadership
discretion. The initial information on team emplacement had
not been coordinated within the proper areas or units. The
devising of a monitoring Plan had not-been established, or
the resup I plan for thi deployed.teams. The dissemination
of informatlyon-about the teams mission and capabilities was
not widely distributed thus inhibiting the initial
coordination for team use.
(i) Communication - Due to the extreme distances and
varying means of communication it was difficult to track
n logistics ' S.
and zno itor mission's and personnel issue This
lack of effective Communication re@ulted in a substantial
logistics runs to the teams and also impeddd the
dissemination of timely and accurate information.
(i) Maintenance support was hindered due to the
difference in vehicles our b&tween the detachment and FMIB
(JIUMMKVIS VS. CUCV). The lack of spare parts and the slow
supply system inhibited the mission ahd in-creased down time.
(k) The lack of good maps was a significant problem
from the on-set. The teams were in need of accurate inaps in
order to navigate effectively in the desert terrain.
(1) CM/BIO information was needed by the Detachment
eadership to,,Tr
lack of BIO sp c igence among ther intelligence
agencies a current and accurate throat brief could n&t be
established or disseminated to the teams.
