nerve agent antidote kits (NAAK) or the pretreatment tablets,
F'B. (NOTE: RC units ordinarily do not keep stocks of these
            limited shel+-Iife items on hand).

                        (c) Most units had excessive numbers of dry-rotted
masks, and no units had attempted to obtain masks for
hard-to-fit +aces. Few units had obtained optical inserts for
            soldiers who needed them.

                        (d) Rarely was there sufficient time to correct
deficiencies using normal supply actions. Quick fixes to meet
            airilow schedules were required.

                (2) Post Chemical Office took steps to remedy the listed
deficiencies before units arrived at MS. I+ those steps were
not successful, actions continued at the MS. Corrective actions
            included:

                        (a) Creating an NBC Predeployment Actions Checklist
for Mobilizing Units, staffing it with the CONUSA, and
disseminating it to ARCOMs and STARCs -For further distribution
to their subordinate units. The checklist was used by RGFR for
            alerted units.

                        (b) Inter-Facing with ARCOM Equipment Concentration
            Sites.

                        (c) Forming a protective mask Authorized Supply List
(ASL) sufficient to serve the RC Units for 60 days. This ASL
was used for mask sizing as well as for filling requisitions for
            masks.

                        (d) Forming a chemical defense equipment (CDE) ASL
sufficient +or 60 days as well as +or making up shortfalls
created by requisitions submitted by the installation.

                C. EXECUTION.

Post Chemical, along with other activities, coordinated a
schedule of NBC events with RGFR for the unit. Each unit spent

logistics activities, usually in the following order:

                        (a) Joint inventory of unit CDE.

                        (b) NBC Threat Briefing and video tape (classified)
to the unit commander and other cleared staff members.

                        (c) FORSCOM-directed training and individual
