           4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS: HMMWV FIELDING


           5. (U) OBSERVATION: Program Executive Office (PEO) Combat
           Support US Army Tani,-Automotive Command (TACOM) provided
           exceptional support to Fort Riley throughout the Fielding a-F the
           HMMWV.

           6. (U) DISCUSSION: The unexpected acceleration of the HMMWV
           Fielding schedule created two requirements- (1) accelerate
           equipment delivery, deprocessing and issue and (2) paint the
           HMMWVs prior to final deprocessit-ig. Mrs. Dorothy Gibbs (Total
           F'ack-Rge Fielding Officer, (PE'O-CS) agreed to remain at Fort
           Riley for the entire Fieldinq period to coordinate shipment,
           receipt, inventory and hando@+ of the systems. Her tact,
           Communication          and long hours of wor@,. enabled the paint
           operation to succeed; she was largely responsible for the
           smoothness of the Fielding Operation. The assistance rendered
           by.the Program Executive Officer in negotiation extended wor@-:
           wee@.:/hOLtrS for the Materiel Fielding Team was absolutely
           essential for Fort Riley to complete the HMMWV Fieldinci prior to
           unit rail deployments.

           7. (LJ) LESSON LEARNED: The importance of close cooperation and
           coordination between the Fielding involving deployment.

           Success of the HMMWV Fielding at Fort Riley, Kansas.
