4. (U) TITLE-. LOGISTICS: LOGISTIC ASSISTANCE F'ROVIDED TO
DEF'LOYING AC AND RC UNITS
5. (U) OBSERVATION: Providing overall logistics support for
unit readiness and deployment.
6. (U) DISCUSSION- a. During the preparation phase of the Ist
ID for deployment to SWA, the Logistic Assistance Office (LAO)
provided assistance toward LtpgrEtding all equipment to +Lilly
mission capable (FMC). Logistic Assistance Representatives
(LAR5) physically visited units to assist in hands-on repairs of
deadlined equipment. The LARs also initiated actions to
e,@pedite delivery of repair parts required to upgrade the
deadlined equipment. Because of the tremendous workload
required to upgrade the equipment to Cl condition, the LAO
recommended that various depot assistance teams be sent to Fort
Riley to provide assistance in repairing the items a+ equipment.
b. The +allowing teams were sent to Fort Riley to assist
the Ist ID and Reserve Component units with deployment
preparations:
(1) Ml, M2/M3 team which consisted of a F'roject Manager and
contract support personnel from FMC, Penistar, and GE. They
were instrumental in removing 50 Mls from deadline StEltLIS,
(2) Red River Army Depot sent a team to repair M981s,
s, and MLRS.
(3) Anniston Army Depot furnished a team +or TOW 2 support.
(4) Letterkenny Army Depot furnished a team +or M109A2.
(5) MICOM furnished a team +or TOW modifications.
(6) Rock Island Arsenal sent a LAR to assist local LARS.
(7) A S@ipply Logistic Management Specialist (LMS) was sent
from Fort Hood.
C. It should also be noted that while the Division and
Reserve units ere preparing -For deployment to SWA, there were
additional requirements placed on the LAO +or new equipment to
be fielded. This equipment would eventually be included in the
deployment package. The equipment fielded included:
