                                      JULLS LONG REPORT

            1. (U) JULLS NUMBER.- 31451-84252 (00172), submitted by RILEY
            AFZN-DL-S, MRS BUCKLES, 856-362--, (913)239-3622.

            2. (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD conducted by USCENTCOM on 02/06/9i.

            3. (U) KEYWORDS: RWO (REAL WORLD OPS), USA (US ARMY), ACTIVE
COMPONENT, GUARD COMPONENT, RESERVE COMPONENT, LOGISTICS, SUPPLY,
ACCOUNTABILITY, COORDINATION, TIMELINESS, MATERIEL, DTTP (DOC, TAC,
            TECH, PR), CRIT3 (IMPORTANT PROBLEM).

            4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS: DODAAC CHANGES TO ADODAAF

            5. (U) OBSERVATION: DODAAC changes to the SAILS ADODAAF used for
local shipments is extremely difficult to'update.

            6. (U) DISCUSSION: As changes are made to the ADODAAF care Must
be taken to correct all lines already existing in the file. The
SAILS systems logic doesn't delete any lines not changed on the
update. It leaves those lines in the address, thereby causing
erroneous addresses. For example the ADODAAF for CONUS units
normally are made up of 3 or 4 lines with the last line of the
address being the City/Installation and State.
When an OCONUS address is processed it consists of two lines
only; the logic doesn't automatically delete the last two lines
of the CONUS address. Rusult is an erroneous address is made by
blanking out the entire transaction. By using either of these
two methods extra SAILS cycles must be run to accomplish desired
            results.

            7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: none

            S. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Change SAILS logic to delete
existing lines of address if a change transaction is not
(TAC) for all lines of the
address. For example, for TAC I lines 1, 2, 3, and 4 exist but
we change only lines 1 and 2. Then lines 3 and 4 should
            automatically be deleted.

            9. (U) COMMENTS. none

            --- (U) SUBJECT: LOGISTICS

                (U) Lesson distributed by: FLLP.
