            units bivouacking inside LOG BASE ECHO (The base eventually grew to

            a total soldier population of some 37,000 soldiers.). The 92nd's

            horizontal platoons also constructed berms and fighting positions

            for over 40 units in Log Base Echo, as well as the base camps of

            the 7th Engineer Brigade and VII Corps Main Command Post. Beyond

            this, the 92nd provided general engineering support for five

            hospitals and constantly supplied dust palliative and crane support

            throughout the logistical base. Projects for this phase were

            initiated and completed within five weeks.




                 PHASE 11 - Construction and Movement from the TAA to the

                             Forward Assembly Area (FAA)



                 Phase II began with the 92nd (under the 926th Group) in direct

            support of the 3rd Armored Division. Movement from our Tactical

            Assembly Area (LEE) to the Forward Assembly Areas was accomplished

            while finishing several projects in LBE. To support the 3rd

            Armored Division, the 92nd's line companies would have to operate

            independently and establish sound support and security plans. They

            would be stretched over 200 k= , deep in enemy territory. While

            the 92nd prepared to support the 3rd Armored Division, the

            battalion continued to support the corps by building 20 pipeline

            crossing sites and grading and marking MSRE Burgundy, Green, and

            Eclio in both the lst Infantry and 3rd Armored Division Areas Of

            Responsibilities (AORs).
