AMMUNITION
During the first part of February, coordination was made
with CSSD-11 in order to resupply 111's critical ammo shortages.

EMBARK
On 5 February, the Heidi Leon Hardt, carring the remainder
of Headquarters Company's vehicles and cargo Pulled into port.
The off-load was completed four days latei,. After several
delays (i.e. lack of heavy equipment transport assests)
equipment arrived at the DSA on 10 February. Later, t.@te
additional vehicles were transported to the field to be married
up with respective sections.
COMMUNICATIONS
At the begining of February 1991, the Communications
Platoon continued to support TF Papa Bear in the desert of
Saudi Arabia. The primary mission continued to be providing
support fox, the Task Force Command Element. In addition, the
platoon's technicians configured vehicles for the Task Force
Air Officer and Naval Gunfire Liason Officer. The Air
Officer's vehicle was a TOW variant HMMWV with HF, UHF, and VHF
capabilities. This vehicle's antennae included a mobile-mounted
RC 292 for VHF and a Near Vertical Incidence Skywave (NVIS) HF
on ensured consistent
communications with Marine Air and proved its worth throughout.

On 18 February 1991, an operational check of the radios in the
Alpha Command LVTC-7 was conducted which verified that it was
ready for potential hostilities. In preparation for combat, on

the LOC. On G-12 hours all radio frequencies were frozen for a
period of 72 hours. During initial combat operations,
communications with highei, and lower units were not interfered
with by Iraqi electronic countermeasures, even though it had
been expected. The Comm Support Group remained with LOC south
of the obstacle belt for the night of 25 February. On 26
February, the task force moved north through the Al Horgan
oilfields. The thick, black smoke prevented PLRS and GPS from
functioning properly as the task force approached Kuwait
International Airport. On 27 February 1991, the Comm Support
